Field of view is the angular extent of the scene captured by a lens. A wider FOV captures more of the scene (wide angle), a narrower FOV shows less but magnifies it (telephoto).

The crop factor is the ratio of the Full Frame sensor diagonal to your sensor's diagonal. APS-C Nikon = 1.5×, APS-C Canon = 1.6×, M4/3 = 2×. A 50mm lens on an APS-C body has the same FOV as a 75mm lens on Full Frame.
